Polish Center for Holocaust Research of the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology of the Polish Academy of Sciences, together with the E. Ringelblum Jewish Historical Institute and the Center for Jewish Studies of the University of Lodz, are creating a national node of the European Holocaust Research Infrastructure within the framework of ERIC
On January 26, 2025, during a ceremony at the POLIN Museum in Warsaw, the European Holocaust Research Infrastructure officially became a permanent structure of the European Research Infrastructure Consortium (EHRI-ERIC). EHRI-ERIC is the first supranational organization bringing together key European institutions involved in Holocaust documentation and research. During the ceremony, representatives and representatives of EHRI-ERIC's founding countries: Austria, Croatia, Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Israel, Germany, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and the United Kingdom signed an agreement on mutual support of Holocaust research.
The Polish EHRI-PL National Node within this infrastructure will be formed by three institutions: the Jewish Historical Institute (coordinator), the Polish Cwnter for Holocaust Research of the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology of the Polish Academy of Sciences, and the Center for Jewish Studies of the University of Lodz. EHRI-PL will be supervised by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.
The Polish Center foe Holocaust Research of the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology of the Polish Academy of Sciences has been involved in the activities of the EHRI infrastructure for a decade, especially supporting the cooperation of researchers from national and international centers. The activities of EHRI-ERIC and EHRI-PL open a new chapter in European and Polish Holocaust research by providing access to scattered archival sources, international scientific cooperation, promoting innovative research and education, and ensuring the protection of the common European heritage for future generations.
